A month after the United States’ first vegan butcher shop – The Herbivorous Butcher – opened its door in Minnesota, a second vegan butcher shop and deli has emerged in Berkley, California. The Butcher’s Vegan Son, owned by sibling team Peter Fikaris and Christina Stobing, features a large menu of vegan meats and cheeses that can be bought by the pound, as well as a deli menu featuring burgers, sandwhiches and salads.
In addition to meats such as roast beef, pulled pork and teriyaki pineapple roast, the shop includes cold case items such as deviled eggs and a plethora of cheeses such as feta, almond ricotta and fresh mozzarella. Their deli menu includes things such as a house-made burger, a Caprese sandwhich, a friend chicken sandwich, a Philly cheesesteak and a hero sub (which includes homestyle beef bologna, roast beef, turkey, salami, cheddar cheese and swiss cheese, as well as veggies).
