One of the toughest parts for people transitioning from being omnivorous, or vegetarian, to veganism is the lack of dairy. Dairy is a pillar of western diets and culinary traditions, after all. Avoiding the consumption of meat and meat products is by no means easy, but for many it is even harder to do away with staples like butter, cheese and especially ice cream.

Ice cream is the delicious, frozen treat that we turn to during hot weather, when we’re stressed, when we’re binge-watching The Good Wife or as kids when the ice cream man came cruising through the neighborhood playing that unmistakable jingle. How on Earth can one survive without it? A company in the Midwest named Cado Desserts has got the answer.

Cado claims to have made “the first organic, dairy-free, avocado-based ice cream made fresh from the tree!” At the moment, it comes in three flavors: Mint Chocolate Chip, Deep Dark Chocolate and Simply Lemon, with each pint containing an entire avocado.

Healthy? Check. Delicious? Hopefully (let us know if you’ve tried it). Vegan? Check. Guilt-free? Check. So, what’s the catch?

The catch is: Cado is only available in a handful of states across the Midwest US currently. @#$%!
