The vegan food company Kite Hill, known for its yogurts and cheeses alternatives, has officially launched vegan queso nationwide. For now, the product can be found at Whole Foods Markets and Sprouts across the United States, with plans to expand into other stores soon.
The product is made from homemade culture almond milk that’s combined with bell peppers, jalapeños and tomatoes. An eight-ounce container can be purchased for the reasonable price of $4.99.
The product has been in development for over a year, and prior to its retail launched it premiered in December at an LA-based restaurant pop-up called Crossroads Tacos.
Kite Hill has also launched a new line of vegan yogurts, called Protein Yogurt. These contain 10 to 12 grams of plant-based protein, considerably more than Kite Hill’s other yogurt offerings. Made with almonds, faba bean protein, soy protein and coconut cream, along with multiple types of live active cultures, the yogurt retails for $1.99 for a 5.3 ounce serving, or $5.99 for a 16-ounce container.
Other Kite Hill products include almond milk yogurts, Greek yogurts, cream cheese, ricotta, ricotta-stuffed pasta (ravioli and tortellini), various dips, sour cream, butter and portable kids yogurt.
