McDonald’s Debuts Vegan “Bleeding Burger”

McDonald’s has announced that beginning April 29 they will begin serving The Big Vegan TS, a vegan “bleeding burger”.

The Big Vegan TS will debut at participating locations across Germany, making it the first all-vegan burger to launch at McDonald’s in the region. The plan is to expand to other regions and countries if the launch is successful.

Rather than using the Impossible Burger like Burger King, or the Beyond Burger like Carl’s Jr. McDonald’s is using the vegan Incredible Burger, which was launched this year by Nestlé under its Garden Gourmet brand.

The burger will come with with mustard, ketchup, tomatoes, onions, and lettuce and is priced at 3.70 euros ($4.13).

This of course isn’t the first time McDonald’s has introduced a vegan product: The burger’s announcement comes just weeks after McDonald’s unveiled vegan nuggets in Norway. In 2017 McDonald’s launched the McVegan in Finland and Sweden, and in January of this year Sweden also received the vegan McFalafel. Also in January, McDonald’s UK announced a collaboration with The Vegetarian Society to launch a vegan wrap filled with meatless chicken that can be ordered in a Happy Meal, with a similar item – the Spicy Veggie Wrap – available for adults.
