Papa John’s Launches Vegan Pizza in South Korea

Papa John’s has announced that for the first time they are offering vegan pizza in South Korea.

Papa John’s has officially launched vegan pizza at 220 stores in South Korea, according to Aju Business Daily.

Pappa John’s has released the Green Eat Vegetable Margarita and the Green Eat Vegetable Garden Special. Both pizzas use plant-based cheese and a vegan, gluten-free crust made with coconut oil and vegetable starch, and both are certified vegan by The Vegan Society.
“Although the domestic market is still small compared to the overseas vegan market, the role of a premium pizza brand is to respond to preferences of each consumer,” says Jeon Joong-gu Papa John’s Korea head. Joong-gu says that more vegan options are forthcoming, assuming these new pizzas sell well.

As noted by Aju Business Daily, South Korea’s vegan meat market has been rapidly growing to meet demands from some 2 million vegans. Data released by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation showed that the country’s vegan meat market which stood at 22.7 billion won ($18.1 million) in 2020 will reach 29.4 billion won in 2025.
